Sandra Guberman, PhD, LCSW
Dr. Guberman's philosophy
is:
A therapist's skill in being able to be present without judgment or criticism is vital to any relationship; as well as being able to create an atmosphere of safety, warmth and trust so that positive change can take place by utilizing the client's inner resources. Self-knowledge through observation is to be explored- allowing everything to be our teacher.

About Dr.Sandra: After graduating from Columbia University, Dr. Guberman
started her career at Jewish Board of Family and Children Services where she

with a specialization in crisis intervention with a focus on grief and loss. While at JBFCS, she entered the
two-year sexual-therapy program with Clifford Sager, M.D. After completion of
this program, she also worked

business and daily stressors in their lives. She uses mindfulness based
cognitive therapy to help clients think about their thoughts differently, and
make positive changes. 'Just because you have a thought doesn't necessarily
make it true'.
In her work with clients, whether it is sex therapy,
individual, or couples therapy, Dr. Guberman uses cognitive therapy to challenge
negative thought patterns, teaches mindfulness and meditation techniques in
dealing with sexual dysfunction, anxiety and self image issues. In her clinical work, Dr. Guberman
has a particular interest in low sexual desire and how unresolved trauma, grief and loss can relate to sexual dysfunction. Dr. Guberman is in private practice for over 30 years on
the Upper West Side. She has supervised fourth year psychiatric residents, participating in case conferences, as well as providing clinical instruction to trainees in the program of Human
Sexuality at the NYU Langone Medical Center Department of Psychiatry. Media:

discussing teenage sexuality and has spoken at the 92nd Street Y on stress and
